The Global Demand for PV Systems in the Third Quarter is Doubled on a Like-for-like Basis 31/12/2010
According to the latest report released by the international research institution Solar Buzz, the global demand for PV systems in the third quarter of 2010 achieved 4.0GW, an increase of 117% on a like-for-like basis, and the whole output value reached $17.9 billion, an increase of 74% on a like-for-like basis.
The global installed PV systems in the first nine months of this year were 10.6GW and the quantity for the full year was predicted to be 16.3GW, an increase of 117% on a like-for-like basis. Among them, the Chinese manufacturers in the third quarter got 51% of the market, an increase of 2% on a like-for-like basis. In the Global Top 12 Major Manufacturers, there are 8 Chinese manufacturers.
The Solar Buzz believed that the substantial price reduction in 2009 laid the foundation for the price rising in 2010. However, the manufacturers plan to expand the production and delivery in 2011, which will lead to continuous price reduction. Next year's production growth can be maintained only with the appropriate price reduction.
Solar Buzz forecasts that the annual PV market size of 2011 will be 20.4GW. The policy influences from Germany and the Czech Republic will show early next year and the growth rate of next year will be greatly reduced to 25%.
China's JA Solar is rated as the first in photovoltaic market share in the third quarter. And its market share accounts for 8%, followed by Suntech Power, FirstSolar, Sharp Japan, Yingli and Trina Solar.
